Taku means the home of hospitality. This meaning is completely relevant in the Asian restaurant Taku in the Excelsior Hotel in Köln. Here you can experience palate teasers from the kitchen's different Far East cookery and high end culture. Head chef Nicolas Auersperg cooks his dishes with authenticity and creativity and takes his ideas from purist Japanese, hearty Chinese or well rounded Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. The Taku offers two solutions for business people: the Office-Box in two sizes, that you can either collect yourself, or have it brought to your work desk, or the weekly changing business lunch which can be eaten in the restaurant itself. For a stay full of enjoyment, the modest service team welcomes guests in the timeless elegance of the Taku on the cathedral square. Here you can indulge in speciality dishes taken from fine Asian cuisine, served with an appropriate sake, or a wine to accompany the meal.

Good for
Privilege
Today we treated ourselves to the winter box. The portions were very good. The quality was very good. We had a lot of fun eating. From our side, gladly again and again.
MoreFood was very good, service very friendly, but unfortunately also quite inflexible. I'm not used to this in this category
MoreWonderful evening with a great menu and very nice service. Preus performance is right.
MoreCertainly yours truly come here with my acquaintances and can rely on being looked after without complaint. We didn't have to wait long for the dish and our drinks. That was great, because we had a crazy binge of eating that evening. The decoration on the seats and in the entire restaurant is reasonable and aesthetic. The toilet is always clean and all in all the place gives a good impression. I can highly recommend the place!
MoreWe were there for my girlfriend's birthday and were completely convinced of the food and the menu choice! You don't treat yourself to that often and it's absolutely worth the price! The service staff is also very attentive and courteous! The little present for my girlfriend was also very nice! We will be back definitely!
MoreNo frills. Mega Asian fine cuisine, rarely so good Asian food. Excellent cuisine as well as the service. Casually elegant.
MoreVery good East Asian star cuisine. My recommendation is "Taku's Peking Duck" menu. The individual courses are put together with very interesting and exciting components to create sophisticated dishes. Price-performance ratio is right for such a great menu. I would love to come back.
MoreWas never there
Just genius !!!! Great Food - Great Service !!
The food was sublime, and the staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions. You can order a multi-course set menu or order a la carte. So glad we gave this restaurant a try!
MoreAmazing Ramen. Get it. You won't be disappointed. The service is friendly and I recommend this place.
MoreDon't tell me anything
I only have one word: delicious! The tonkatsu was excellent
Me and my partner had a wonderful experience at Taku. The staff was very friendly and professional, the. Space is small, but cozy. We had the 6course tasting menu and the wine paring- it was really delicious and special. Also the wines that they chose we found to be very interesting, tasty and fresh. All in all it was worth it !
MoreLong waiting times and staff hardly speak German.
We were a couple and decided on the 4-course menu (95.00 EUR) with wine accompaniment (65.00 EUR). The dishes were very refined and tasted good. From our point of view, however, salted a bit too strongly, which has already been found in other reviews. According to the operator, this is the case, a statement that surprised us a bit as to how comments are handled. The wine accompaniment was very good and exceptional from the wines and explanations. What bothered us was that the wine had already been poured for the fourth course, although we had not yet drunk the wine from the third course. The waitress mentioned only said that the wine could warm up a bit. In such a sophisticated restaurant, I expect a different reaction!
MoreSome of the food was ok but I don’t see how it has a star; have eaten at “Michelin Guide” restaurants with much better quality. Menu was all over the place and was served a random loaf of bread and butter that did not fit with the meal. Silverware was also mismatched at times which one would not expect from a restaurant with a star. See pictures/captions for further info.
MoreThat evening, you have to believe that the salt shaker had fallen into the pot: all the sauces were excruciatingly salty. The young waitress who explores by explaining that you know nothing about it, that Asian food is very salty, was a reflection of the service: mechanical. I advise you not to choose the Pekingese duck which is expensive and cut unimaginatively.
MoreWonderful experience, food, wine and service were excellent
Asian cuisine? Only mediocre for me, poor service. Better in Cologne! !
Nice
Taku is more than a restaurant, it is an impeccable, flawless, elegant experience. The ingredients, presentation, and flavor of each dish dazzled our palates (I went with my husband). The photos attached show the dishes we actually ordered, plus little bites of marvelous things that were brought to us. The wait staff were lovely, helpful, and welcoming. I can't wait to return!
MoreI don't like sushi that much but here the sushi is soooo delicious Fantastic
An oasis of peace in the hectic hustle and bustle on the nearby cathedral plate. The ambiance is tidied chique and suggests a touch of feng shui. The focus is clearly on the food, and they can be seen anyway. We loved the scallop and mackerel. The matching wines are presented stylishly and with great humor. Here is someone with full attention and expertise at work. The personal style of the house is not too short. We felt comfortable all around and will gladly come back!
MoreGreat alternative to the local cuisine
Lovely place
Nice place
I was very very disappointed with Taku's Peking Enten Menü and the service of the Restaurant. So I'm not surprised why they get only 3.9 here.
MoreBest Japanese in cologne
Entrance to the cathedral. Great place for a quick stop.
Good resturent, nice food.
Great lunch alternative to fast food. A bit more expensive too, but you taste where the extra money is spent on quality ingredients. Take a chance and try it, but prepare for longer waits during lunch hours. Lots of demand for their dishes.
MoreGood place. Testy
Cool
Beautiful and tasty dishes. The decoration of the restaurant fits nicely into the concept and is nice and spacious. Highly recommended.
MoreOk
Good location and food!

Excellent, inventive take on Asian food. Go for the tasting menu. The table next to us had the Peking duck menu which also looked amazing!
MoreWe had a very nice evening, great atmosphere and very, very delicious food Every course was a pleasure ❤️
MoreI really have to say "Whoever was in Cologne and did not eat taku was not in Cologne". Our 4-course menu with wine accompaniment was perfect. A feast for the eyes and the palate. The wines were excellent with every course. The service was great. Attentive and somehow inconspicuous and very friendly. We even saw the star chef Mirko Gaul and had a nice chat with him.

An amazing culinary and visual experience! Perfect and creative asian cuisine and superb service.
MoreGood Food
Such a lack of choice! Plus totally doesn't worth it
Underwhelmed by the food :( We were a large group for a private dinner and the food was relatively bland and unforgettable. Not somewhere i would spend my hard earned savings. Polite service and lovely decor tho. ??
MoreGood and testy asian food serve here.
